GCP Web App Blueprint
The Web App Blueprint for Google Cloud is a working, production-ready web application deployed on the GCP Enterprise Baseline: a Flask API on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) behind a GKE Gateway, a React single-page application on Cloud Run behind Cloud CDN, Firestore with MongoDB compatibility, Memorystore for Valkey and the GitOps delivery chain that takes a commit to production. This overview section is public.
What it deploys
The blueprint is three repositories, deployed into the dev, staging and prod platform projects of the Baseline.
| Repository | What it holds |
|---|---|
acme-gcp-blueprint-webapp-infra | Per stage: a regional GKE Standard cluster with private nodes, a DNS-based control-plane endpoint, Dataplane V2, Workload Identity Federation for GKE and node auto-provisioning for application nodes; the API edge the chart's Gateway uses (a global address, a Google-managed certificate and a Cloud Armor policy); the front end on Cloud Run behind a global external Application Load Balancer with Cloud CDN and Cloud Armor; Firestore with MongoDB compatibility and Memorystore for Valkey without passwords; and the cluster add-ons External Secrets, external-dns, cert-manager and ArgoCD |
acme-gcp-blueprint-webapp-gitops | The Helm chart ArgoCD reconciles into each stage, with the GKE Gateway for the API, per-stage values and a default-deny network policy |
acme-gcp-blueprint-webapp-code | The Flask API and the React front end, with GitHub Actions pipelines that build each image once and tag it immutably in Artifact Registry, then promote the API by GitOps pull request and the front end by Cloud Run revision |
The application holds no password. Its pods authenticate to Firestore and Valkey with their Workload Identity Federation identity, and the pipelines sign in through Workload Identity Federation for GitHub Actions, so no service account key exists. GitOps explains the promotion model the delivery chain follows.
