BuiltForProd Assessment
The BuiltForProd Assessment is a fixed-price, evidence-based assessment of your cloud infrastructure against the eight properties of the BuiltForProd Standard: Secure, Reliable, Observable, Scalable, Automated, Recoverable, Compliant and Operable. BuiltForProd engineers review the systems in scope, interview your engineering team, and examine documentation and configuration evidence. The result answers three questions: where are we today, what needs attention, and what should we do next.
What is reviewed
The assessment covers six areas. Each maps to one or more properties of the Standard.

Scope is agreed per engagement. Not every assessment covers every property or every system; the written assessment states which systems and which properties were in scope.
What you receive
The deliverable has four parts.

How it runs
- Discovery. Scope is agreed: the systems, the properties and the people. Access to documentation, configuration and the engineering team is arranged.
- Assessment. The systems in scope are reviewed, the engineering team is interviewed, and documentation and configuration evidence are examined against the Standard.
- Recommendations. Findings are written per property, prioritized, and grouped into immediate concerns, foundational improvements and longer-term improvements.
- Future-state architecture. The target architecture is drawn and each design decision is mapped to the property it serves, with its assumptions and trade-offs.
- Migration plan. The path from the current state to the future state is phased, with sequencing, dependencies, activities and effort estimates.
- Follow-up. After delivery, questions are answered and reasonable refinements within scope are made.
What it is not
- It is not a certification, and it is not a formal compliance attestation. Compliance findings describe readiness against a framework; an audit is performed by an auditor.
- It is not a penetration test. Security findings come from configuration evidence, access controls and interviews, not from exploiting systems.
- It produces no proprietary score. Findings are stated per property of the Standard, with the evidence behind them.
- It does not require adopting BuiltForProd products. The recommendations and the migration plan can be executed internally, with BuiltForProd, or with another partner.
Commercial terms
The Assessment is a fixed fee, quoted to the agreed scope before the engagement starts. The fee is credited up to 50% toward a BuiltForProd Baseline purchased within 90 days of delivery. Like the other offerings, it is bought directly from BuiltForProd or as a cloud marketplace private offer; the steps are on purchasing and licensing.
