GCP

The GCP Enterprise Baseline is a next-phase product. The offerings note describes it as a production-ready GCP foundation engineered around the Google Cloud Architecture Framework, and places it, with the Azure Baseline and further blueprints, in the phase after the AWS products' go-to-market. It does not ship today.

What exists now​

The GCP Baseline set on this site holds sample placeholder pages so the navigation, the sign-in gate and the placeholder mechanism can be seen working. Those pages are public, never indexed by search engines, and carry a banner saying they are samples. They will be replaced by the real documentation when the product ships.

What it will mirror​

The GCP documentation will follow the structure of the AWS offering: a Baseline set with a public overview and gated architecture pages, and a set per blueprint. The ideas the AWS Baseline is built on are already documented and apply to any cloud:

  • a landing zone of single-purpose accounts or projects as the unit of isolation (landing zones);
  • hub-and-spoke networking with one address plan (hub-and-spoke networking);
  • infrastructure as code with units and stacks, planned on every pull request and applied on merge (infrastructure as code);
  • the eight pillars of the BuiltForProd Standard, which every baseline is measured against regardless of cloud.

What is not stated​

No date, price, service list or project layout for the GCP Baseline appears in the sources this site is written from, so none is given here. The roadmap page states exactly what is committed. When the GCP Baseline ships, the Baseline product page will list it alongside AWS and Azure with its deployment tiers.
